More Information

Upon successful completion of the CT Tech program, you will be well-prepared for a range of exciting career opportunities

Computed Tomography (CT) is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses rotating X-ray equipment to capture detailed cross-sectional images of the body. By taking multiple X-ray images from different angles and combining them using computer technology, CT produces detailed slices of internal organs and structures. This imaging technique helps in diagnosing various conditions, from injuries to diseases.

A CT technologist operates CT scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. They prepare patients for scans, position them correctly, and ensure the capture of high-quality images. CT technologists also work closely with radiologists to interpret the images and assist in diagnosing medical conditions

Key skills for a CT technologist include technical proficiency in operating CT equipment, attention to detail for capturing clear and accurate images, strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals, and a thorough understanding of anatomy and imaging technology. Additionally, proficiency in radiation safety practices is crucial.

CT technologists have a range of career opportunities, including roles in hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, and specialized clinics. They may also pursue positions in research, medical equipment sales, or education. Advanced certifications and specializations can open additional career paths and increase earning potential.

Yes, the CT Tech program includes substantial hands-on training. Students participate in clinical rotations where they gain practical experience operating CT equipment, performing imaging procedures, and interacting with patients. This real-world training is crucial for developing the skills needed for a successful career in CT technology.

The job outlook for CT technologists is strong, with a growing demand for skilled professionals due to advancements in medical imaging technology and an aging population. The role offers stable employment opportunities and competitive salaries in various healthcare settings.
